The Kittles first opened The
PickleDish in the town’s retail
district. When space became tight,
they started searching for a property
that could accommodate the shop
as well as their home. In 2016 they
found the elegant structure that
retains many of the elements that
make it feel like home: high ceilings,
stained-glass windows, molding,
fireplaces, and chandeliers. Steve
maintains the historic building and

gardens and manages the shop
finances. Jan specializes in sales and
hospitality.
“We pride ourselves on
being really approachable and
accommodating,” Jan says. “We
encourage our customers, first of
all, and we listen to them to try to
build on what they’re saying rather
than steering them in the direction
we would go. I’ll suggest color
possibilities, but if someone is
