Cut Fabrics

Cut pieces in the following order.

Cut solid gray inner and outer

border strips lengthwise (parallel to

selvages).

From cream print, cut:

• 6—2^1 ⁄ 2 ×42" strips
  From solid gray, cut:


• 2—10^1 ⁄ 2 ×96" outer border
  strips


• 2—10^1 ⁄ 2 ×76" outer border
  strips


• 2—5^1 ⁄ 2 ×72" inner border strips


• 2—5^1 ⁄ 2 ×62" inner border strips


• 1—30" square, cutting it
  diagonally twice in an X for 4
  triangles total


• 4—20" squares

Assemble Diamond Units

Measurements include^1 ⁄ 4 " seam

allowances. Sew with right sides

together unless otherwise stated.

Press seams in directions

indicated by arrows on diagrams.

If no direction is specified, press

seam toward darker fabric.

Finished Quilt: 96" square

1. Referring to Diagram 1, sew
   together five different assorted
   A print 2^1 ⁄ 2 ×42" strips and one
   cream print 2^1 ⁄ 2 ×42" strip to make
   Strip Set A; offset each strip 2" from
   previous strip.


2. Using acrylic ruler, trim left-
   hand edge of Strip Set A at a 45°
   angle (Diagram 2). Measuring
   from cut edge, cut eight 2^1 ⁄ 2 "-wide
   A segments. Label segments and
   stack them together.

Strip set construction and color placement simplify

the assembly of this Lone Star.
