rorless kit is the light weight and small

size. I did not get it for the fact that it is

mirrorless. It does not offer huge mega-
pixels, and its low light ability is not as

good as most 35mm sensors either. I

work around these limitations by shoot-
ing subjects to the final use in camera

and I use smart processing techniques in

Adobe Lightroom. I’d wager that know-

ing your camera gear inside out, and its
limitations, is much more important

that having the latest and greatest.

CHALLENGING YOURSELF WILL
IMPROVE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY
I strongly believe you should set yourself
projects and goals. Sure, good tools help
you do the job better, however the most
creative photographers I’ve known are great
at visualisation and challenging their cre-
ativity with projects first. They would all
list photo equipment and technicalities last.
So there it is. Don’t treat everything
you hear as gospel, and most of all, have
fun and enjoy your hobby! ❂

DARRAN LEAL

LEFT: This leopard at
sunset is a hard shot
to get as it happens
so rarely. Yet my
small sensor camera
handled it so well.
Had I not pushed my
ISO, I would not have
achieved this result.
