AN AMISH BOY FACES HIS FUTURE
Todd Henry is a documentary photographer, pho-
tojournalist, and visual storyteller. He says his inter-
ests lie in capturing visual content that examines
aspects of our society that we often take for granted.
He captured this evocative image at a commu-
nity auction in Central Pennsylvania in May 2018.

Moving forward, moving back. Time stands still in this
attentively framed moment where the composition is
simple and powerful.
This image captures the moment really well. I love the
composition and expression of the Amish boy and
the other two figures in the background. The light is
hitting the boy whilst the others are in shadow creates
depth and perspective - almost in a painterly way. It’s
a striking black and white image that could hang in a
gallery as well as sit in a reportage story.
