Originally from Denmark, Jannick Clausen has called
Australia home for the past 32 years. He says photog-
raphy is something he has pursued since the film and
dark room days. In 2016 he was named the Australian
Landscape photographer of the year at the Australian

Professional Photographer of the year.  In 2017 he won
Capture Magazine’s Australian Top Emerging Photog-

DOUWE DIJKSTRA
This unusual but captivating landscape struck
a chord with me. Its randomly placed wonky
elements (curved wires and contrasting linear
poles) are framed perfectly in the square
composition. The poles and lines appear to
dance across the frame. [In doing so] it makes
this otherwise ordinary scene look beautiful.

ANTHONY MCKEE
Man-made structures can provide some beautiful
design moments, like this image by Jannick
Clausen. A mist creates soft light in which the
design elements become crystal clear from
this one perfect vantage point, and what makes
the composition even more appealing are the
supporting elements. Single power poles to
the left and pairs to the right looking on like
spectators and even the road markers are leaning
in to be part of the moment. This is a soft, elegant
composition that most people will find engaging.
