previousyears.
ChallengeSouthWest provided one
of the highlights of the show. Their
teamworked hardat building afantas-
ticcoursewith big jumps, allset up in
the mainfi elds.For just £20,passen-
gerscouldget two hot laps around the
coursein oneof their challenge trucks.
The soundof thesetrucks making
‘significant progress’ around thecourse
was very impressive and the rides
proved to be oneof the most popular
activitiesat the show.
Therewere no less than 32 clubs in
attendance thisyear, and they all
made a hugeeffort with their displays.
I had the honourof judging the ‘Clubof
the Show’ and although theywere all
great, therecould only be one winner.

The LRM ClubAwardwent to the Discov-
ery 3&4 Owners’ Group.To p bunchof
guys and girls and I’m sure they will
beback nextyear.
The knowledge andpassionof the
clubs is outof thisworld and the shows
wouldn’t be thesame without them.
This year saw aneven larger numberof
tradestands than previously, andsome
who had never attended a show before.
Hopefully they’ll agree with me and be
backfor 2020.
The beertent hadsome local live
entertainment on theSaturday night. The
mainevent however was thereturn of the
charity auction with ChrisPretty as host.
A special thank-you mustgooutto all the
traders who donated productsfor this;
the auctionraised a massive £3400. All

of this will be handedover to Prostate
Cancer UK and the local air ambulance.
Chrisevensold the shirtoffhisback,
which like theoff-road courseis proving
to be popular amongst the ladies and
one ortwo of the men.
The thing I lovemost about shows
like this is the friendliness. Therewas a
real festivalatmosphere, and thosewho
remember the heyday ofthe oldBilling
show will know what I mean – and there
always seemedto be thefamiliar hum
of a V8 engine in the distance and the
aromaof BBQs – always awelcome
sound and smell inmyopinion.
The Billing Off-Road Show announced
their 2020 dates, soput June 27 – 28
in your diary – it’s guaranteedto be
anothergood and sunny one!
