The full set

The ARB Compressor kit is
complemented by two separate
products: aPump Up kitfor tyres and
other in fl atable items, and atyre infl ator
with an accurate ga uge.

So bendy

Comparedto the pr evious picture,
here the unit has beenrotated back
to a fl at positionrelative to the mounting
feet, allowingattachment in tight locations.

Lots of options

3

The compressor it self is very
versatile, in that itcan be adjusted
for numerous mountingconfigurations by
loosening these adjustingscrews to rotate
the body.

Choosing a location

6

I’ll fi t the compressor on frontof rear
bulkhead (behindcubby bo x). It ’s
protected from the load area, and allows
airline access through all three doors.

Getting the fittings located

5

The reservoir tank (on top) can be
rotated by loosening the manifold
bolt, so the air outlet ports are facing a
convenient directionfor attaching fi ttings.

THERE are a numberof criteria that
need to be considered when choosing
a loc ation for the compressor. Firstly,
access to the unit needsto be good. I
wanted the fl exibility of having access to
an air line from either sideof the Land
Rover and from therear, which dictated
a central loc ation inside thecabin, rather
than in the enginebay.
The compressor must not betoo clo se
to sources of heat such as theexhaust
system, nor directly behind theradiator.
It should bekept away from excessive
moisture, and be safe from mechanical
damage or abrasion. A free airfl ow
is also important, as is access to the
system’s air fi lter. Also bear in mind
that thecompressor is fairly noisy and

becomes hot under
normal operation.
Other considerations
are the proximity to the
axles (if using air lock-
ing dif ferentials) andto
the battery compartment.
Where possible, avoid
long runsfor air lines and
battery supplycables.
The ARB aircompressor is very
compact, given its high output. And it’s
versatile in theway it can be adjusted and
configured for tight locations on thevehi-
cle. I was able to set it up to fi t very ne atly
in the space between my cubby box and
the lo wered middle bulkhead. Before work-
ing on thevehicle, disconnect thebattery.

It’s all included
