TERRY BELL’S FJ CRUISER

“After owning two HiLuxes, I decided to buy an FJ Cruiser after a lot
of research about the petrol engine”, explains Terry. “Especially
after two diesels, I wasn’t interested in the CRD problems and the FJ
came home. It’s lifted 50mm, with TUFF 17 X 9 MAGS and a set of
33in Cooper ST MA X X tyres. She also has a Safari Snorkel, Brown
Davis bash plates, an MCC bullbar, a Uniden UHF, dual battery
system, drawers, a fridge and the list goes on. It’s a great city driver,
4WD and tourer averaging 14 km/L fully loaded.”

CLINT’S 1996 MEYERS MANX BEACH BUGGY!

“I’ve done heaps of work to the buggy and so far it’s been pretty
capable!” Explains Clint. “A month ago I finished putting in a 2L
Subaru turbo engine, Haltech ECU, e85 flex fuel system and it
currently has 210Hp at the rear wheels. I have a new turbo ready to
bolt on that should give it closer to 300Hp at the wheels. It also has an
AiM Strada 5in LCD dash, off-road racing built V W Kombi gearbox,
custom clutch, Porsche drive shafts, DBW throttle using a newer
Subaru throttle body and a commodore pedal, 1966 V W beetle chassis
with pre 1960 link pin front suspension for more travel and ground
clearance and post 1970 independent rear suspension for more travel
and ground clearance and stability. Over 300mm clearance at the
front and almost 400mm clearance at the rear. Latest headunit with
wireless Apple CarPlay, 2 amps, 10in sub under the rear seat, MX
seats in the front, two seats in the rear, modified steering wheel and
column I built by hacking together parts from gen 2,3 and 4 Liberty
steering wheels and columns, cruise control, 33in rear tyres, drum
brakes have been upgraded to disc brakes all around. And probably
more things I’m forgetting!”

DOM’S 2003 HZJ105 SERIES LANDCRUISER

“Hey 4WD action, my names Dom Evans i’m an apprentice mechanic at
Jiffy Car Care in Perth Western Australia”, explains Dom. “This is my
2003 HZJ105 Series LandCruiser. I bought it pretty much bog stock
with only a roof rack, awning, some small lights and Titan draws. It
now has a 4in King Spring lift with 6in shocks , 35x12.5R16 Lakesea
extreme tyres, MCC rear bar, an Xbull 14500lb winch mounted in the
factory bullbar, diff breathers, dual battery with a fridge plug at the
back, front 4WD Systems auto locker and BMK Customs made me a
4inch stainless snorkel powdercoated black and the slider/ scrub bar
combo too. Everything else I’ve done myself! I like heading down south
to White Hills to fish on the beach and trips to places like Brunswick,
WA to really test the 105 on some of the tougher tracks.”
