changing^ the

For $20 it’s always worth
replacing the thermostat,
and use a genuine one! Also
don’t forget to install a new
thermostat gasket as well. Once
you’ve cleaned off all the old
gasket from the housings, apply
some good quality sealant to
the housing and ensure you
double check you’re installing
the thermostat correct to
manufacture specs. Carefully
bolt up the thermostat housing
making sure it doesn’t slip or
move around whilst doing so.
Before you install your new
radiator, you need to swap over
the mounts from your old one.

PWR radiators are designed
to fit using all the original
mounts, so its simply a case of
swapping everything over. Once
that’s done, bolt in your new
PWR radiator. Again for a few
extra bucks, chuck some new
hoses and clamps on. Once the
radiator, hoses and clamps are
fitted up, re-install everything
you took off including the fan
shroud. Once you’ve double
checked everything; it’s time to
fill the radiator with good quality
coolant, being sure to use the
same type of coolant that was
previously drained. Check your
vehicle’s specs as to what the

cooling capacity is, then mix
your coolant to correct ratio and
refill the system. Ensure you use
demineralised water not normal
tap water as this will help reduce
corrosion inside the cooling
jackets. When refilling your
coolant, you might have to undo
an air bleed screw, depending
on what 4WD you own. Once it’s
full, start the vehicle with the cap
off which’ll allow any further air
in the system to bleed out. Place
the cap on once you’re confident
and get it up to temperature,
take it for a drive and ensure you
have no leaks. Another way to
bleed the cooling system is to

remove the radiator cap and park
the vehicle so the radiator filler is
at the highest point. Then ‘burp’
the system by gently squeezing
the top radiator hose. Continue
this process until you can’t see
any bubbles coming out of the
filler neck of the radiator, then
re-install your radiator cap.
