TV & Satellite Week – 03 August 2019

(sharon) #1

We search the TV schedules to uncover

the shows you might have missed...

What else

can I watch?

more like the

Sharon I know

  • a very capable

businesswoman

who’s also very caring.

When we took the script to

producers at C4, they thought the

characters might be too mean to

each other to be sisters – but that’s

how families talk to each other.

Are you excited to work with

Sharon again? We go back a long

way and we’ve kept working on ideas.

There was one called ‘Delilah’, which

we worked on for two years. It was

very Irish but Derry Girls pipped us

to the post. I wrote the first episode

of This Way Up in a day and sent it

to Sharon. Luckily she liked it.

Are you excited seeing your hard

work come to fruition? Getting the

show on screen is my dream come

true – even if we don’t get a second

NEW Thou Shalt Not Kill

Italian crime drama centres on
inspector Valeria Ferro (Miriam
Leone), a gifted but troubled murder
detective. She’s a loner who bends
the rules – and it falls to her boss
and lover Giorgio Lombardi (Thomas
Trabacchi) to reel her in. Just as a

father is broadcasting a live TV appeal
to help find his missing teen daughter,
the girl’s body is found in a flooded
basement. Valeria grabs the reins of
the investigation, but then demons
from her past resurface when her
mother is released from prison after
serving 17 years for murder. The
series kicks off with a double bill
and all episodes will be available on
All 4 after the first episode airs.

NEW Temptation Island

reality show in which four US couples put
their relationships to the test. They go to Hawaii,
where they join 24 singletons in search of
love. Will they be tempted? The entire series
will be on Sky Box Sets/Virgin TV from 4 Aug.

NEW Scrapyard Supercar

Sunday, Dave HD, 6pm

Former Boyzone member, reality star, pro
drift driver and petrolhead Shane Lynch hosts
this new car show. He sets two teams of
amateur mechanics the task of building a one-
off vehicle from scrap that can outperform a
top-of-the range supercar. Under the guidance
of engineer Ralph Hosier, the teams have four
days to construct their vehicle before they
head to the racetrack and put it to the test.

Lethal Weapon

Friday, ITV HD, 9pm

Richard Roundtree, currently starring in
Netflix’s Shaft reboot, guests in this week’s
episode as Murtaugh’s competitive father-in-
law Don Bennett. Murtaugh (Damon Wayans)
is getting ready to celebrate his 30th
anniversary with the LAPD when Don pays
him a visit and belittles his achievement.

Miriam Leone plays
a detective battling
her own demons

series! And
I genuinely
couldn’t believe
it when a catering
truck turned up
on set just because I wrote something.
It was a real ‘whoa!’ feeling.

How does creating your own
sitcom compare to doing stand-
up and panel shows? Well, panel
shows are like dinner parties – they
aren’t difficult unless you’re sat next
to someone boring. When you’re
with a gang of friends on a show
and you feel comfortable, it’s a joy.
Except that millions of people watch
you and you get threats on Twitter!

BOX SET

All six episodes of This
Way Up will be available on All 4
on Thursday 8 August after the
first episode has aired.
