here are billions of spam calls made each and
every day and if you’re one of the unlucky
ones to keep receiving them, then blocking
them should be your fi rst port of call. Although they
aren’t a major problem for your device, per se, they
can be a big annoyance and now with SMS spam
becoming more prevalent, the Mr Number app is
more useful than ever before. Using the app,
Android users can systematically block calls and
SMS messages from specifi ed numbers, while also
creating a vault of numbers they want to send
straight to their phone’s voicemail.

Howtoblock
When you first open up the Mr Number app,
go to the Blocklist menu listed on the main screen.
Fromhere,selectthe‘Choosefromrecentcallsor
texts’ option.
1 Find your numbers
Scroll through the list of your recent calls
andtextsuntilyoucomeacrossanumberworth
blocking. Press the menu icon on the right and
then select Block.
2 Createavault
As you begin adding numbers, they will
start appearing in your Blocklist. You can long-press
any of these to remove them from the Blocklist, if
you don’t want it in there.

Unless you’re running an up-to-date version of
Ad-Blocker on your Android device, make sure to
avoid any third-party P2P services, as these are
usually fi lled with spam. Similarly, pirated
software is not only illegal to download, but can

No matter if it’s Chrome, Dolphin or
something completely different, make sure to
consistently update your chosen mobile web
browser to its latest version. The new versions
often have the latest security fi xes and patch
exploits found in previous versions.
Suspicious social media
Avoid any online clients that can
supposedly be used instead of the standard
Facebook and Twitter apps. These sites often
just want your email and password so they can
then spam your profi les with content. Stay safe
by using only the offi cial apps.
Use common sense
A large portion of staying safe online
simply comes down to using common sense.
Avoid clicking on any dodgy links and avoid any
sites that are fl agged up as potentially being
dangerous by your browser. It’s especially
important not to download any fi les from these
sortsofsites.
Don’t save passwords
Certain browsers will automatically
remember your logins to certain websites, if you
give them permission. Although it can save you
time having to log in, if your device does fall into
the wrong hands you’ll leave your accounts wide
open for people to exploit.
