A handy app for any
Android user, IFTTT is
an automation tool
that can greatly
enhance your smartwatch’s
features – from using it to turn the
lights off in your home, to silencing
your phone while it’s still in your
pocket, to receiving alerts from
your favourite social networks.

Tasker to control features on your
phone, Toggle makes it easy to

Yo is an app that only
allows users to send a
message that reads ‘yo’
to one another. This
might sound ridiculous, but what
many fail to realise is that Yo is not a
messaging app but a notifi cation
tool. As well as receiving ‘Yos’ from
individuals – for instance, you can
quickly buzz friends to say you’re
nearby – you can subscribe to alerts.

get a Yo when your favourite
team scores, a Yo when a
Starbucks is near your location,
or even when a new case of
Ebola is diagnosed. Images and
links that you’ve copied to your
phone can also be shared via Yo
when you long-press on a
contact’s name. This so-called
‘zero character communication
tool’ lends itself very well to
your smartwatch, where voice
dictation for text messages
often feels awkward –
especially in public.
