Each character has their own strengths and weaknesses

Since making its arcade

debut back in 1998,

Namco Bandai’s

one-on-one fighting

game has seen several sequels and

remakes on various platforms.

This Android version is a faithful

conversion of the original Soulcalibur

game and keeps the same formula

andchoiceofmodesastheclassic

coin-op. There’s the main Arcade

mode that pits you against a series of

enemies with a tougher boss at the

end, as well as Time Attack and

Survival modes.

Gameplay variety is pretty good,

but with only 19 characters to choose

from,youmaygetalittleboredafter

awhile.Eachfighterisdifferentand

has their own set of moves to master.

However, while the original game

benefited from the use of a physical

joystick (or joypad on console

versions), attempting to pull off a

nine-button combo with touch-

screen controls is near impossible

Apartfromthisshortcoming,

Soulcalibur is a fantastic conversion

oftheoriginalarcadegame,butlacks

the depth that some beat-’em-up

fans will probably crave.
