Bluetooth

audio from

stuttering

Since I updated the operating

system on my phone, the audio

playback stutters quite badly when

playing through headphones or over

my car stereo. Any ideas as to what

is causing this because it is starting

to drive me mad?

your predicament, but we

are not sure that a

third-party app will be the

solution here. Many of the apps

concentrate on magnif ying what

you can see through the camera

lens – not useful in this situation

• and ones that can increase the
  screen content to a level that is
  v iewable are few and far bet ween.
  We also tried a few solutions and
  came up short, so would instead
  suggest trying an accessibility
  setting which should already be
  built in to your dev ice. You haven’t
  said which phone you are using so
  we will detail the default method
  for zooming in and out, and
  hopefullythiswillgosomewayto
  solvingyourproblem.Knowing
  the phone you use when
  answering questions helps us
  narrow down solutions more
  effectively. The method we

  ideal for quickly turning
  on and off when you
  need to, which is a
  major advantage
  for most
  people who
  sometimes
  remove
  their
  glasses.

If you have Developer Options enabled, look for an option called

‘Verify apps over USB’ and ensure it’s ticked. This lets Google scan

apps that have been installed via the Android Debug Bridge for

malicious content or behaviour that can harm your device or data.

If it is ticked, untick it and this

alone may solve the problem. For

whatever reason it seems to

cause some stuttering, especially

when running KitKat, and so it

makes sense to disable it

any way. You should also tr y to

make sure that not too many

apps are running at the same

time because it is possible that

the CPU is struggling and so

adding to the problem. Finally,

tr y out a couple of the alternative

audio players available in Google

Play because for some people,

third-party apps seem to also

help solve the problem.

MMS can

be very

expensive!

I like to send photos to my friends

because they often share them

with me, but the cost can be very

high. My network provider offers

unlimited data, but MMS can run

to more than £1 per use, which

seems extremely high to me.

How can I avoid these charges?

Hi Joanne.There is

no way in Android

to avoid these

charges if you are

determined to add images

to your text messages. MMS

has always worked the

same way and the pricing

has generally stayed high

in comparison to

alternative methods.

The best advice we can

give to avoid these

charges is to not use

MMS at all and to look

at alternative options

such as WhatsApp,

which will let you

send images, videos

and audio clips

using your

unlimited data

connection. The

service is easy to use and

if you can persuade those

youknowtouseitaswell,you

will all save a lot of money. A lso,

don’t forget social networks

which allow this as well and

many other instant messaging

apps which will give you the

same facilit y. Text messages are

diffi cult to ignore because we

have become so used to using

the ser v ice ever y day over many

years, but the fact is that time

movesonandthepricingof

MMS has not kept up with the

trends of the industry.
