One way to speed up your dev ice’s
performance is to make sure you’re not
using any thing you don’t need to. Obv iously
you can do that manually but there is a
much easier and less time consuming way to
go about it. ZDbox is a simple app that lets
you kill processes when they’re using up a
set amount of your device’s memor y, and it
w ill run automatically if you set it up
correctly. You can set it to kill ever y thing
when you lock your screen as well and it
will also clear your cache to free up even
more memor y. It’s free to download and
once you have got it installed, just follow the
simple steps in this tutorial to get it set up
and running on your rooted device.

One of the places where an under performing
Android dev ice is the most obv ious is games.
They take up an awful lot of processor power
and if your phone or tablet isn’t up to speed,
then you are going to get a lot of chug and lag
which will completely ruin your gaming
experience. However, that is something you
can easily fix with GLTools, a free app that
lets you change the settings on your CPU and
GPU to make games run quicker and more
smoothly. You will need a bit of know-how to
make sure that you’re getting the new
settings just right, but we will walk you
through how to do it in this simple tutorial.
Once you have downloaded the app from the
Google Play store, then you’re ready to go.

Improve graphics quality

Automate task management

Use ZDbox to kill
running apps and
processes on the fly to
speed up your device

Use GLTools to boost
the performance of
your device when
you’re playing your
favourite games

From the main page of
the app, tap on the Task Killer
bar at the top of the screen.
There’s an orange bar across
the top of the next screen, tap
this and then grant superuser
access to the app. Now tap on
the settings cog.

Once you’ve installed the app,
you need to grant it superuser
permission and then install
some extra content. You can
either do this through recovery
mode or through the app.
Whichever you decide to do,
your phone or tablet will reboot
when it’s downloaded the files.

It’s good to check the Force 16
bit rendering and Optimize GLSL
shaders boxes. Try downscaling
the textures as well, although
that may affect visual
performance. You can also fool
a game into thinking you’re using
a specific chipset by using the
fake CPU emulation settings.

Useful to
check
When you reopen the^3
app, you will be taken to a big list
of all apps that you have got
installed. Tap on the game that
you want to customise, and then
tap on the tick box to enable
custom settings. Now scroll
through the list to see what you
are able to tweak. There should
be lots of options to pick from.
