Benchmark-

busting ROMS

First up you will need to make sure you’ve

got a compatible recovery manager installed. The

app will walk you through the process and install

one if you don’t, but if you’ve rooted your device

then it’s likely you won’t have to. When it’s done,

go back to the main page.

The ROM Manager

Pick the build of the ROM you want to

install. You will probably need to do some research

on the XNA Forums to find out which of the

available ROMs are going to work best for your

device. Once you have done so, tap on the ROM

name to select it.

Scroll down through the list of options on

the front page of the app and tap on the button

marked Download ROM. If you have already

downloaded a ZIP of the ROM that you want to

install, then you can tap on the Install ROM from

SD Card option instead.

Once you’ve downloaded the ROM, tap on

the notification. This will take you to a list of

options. Tap ‘Reboot and Install’ and the app will

restart your device in recovery mode and flash the

ROMtoinstallit.Nowyou’vegotaROMwithout

needing to use your computer.

Probably the best

known ROM and

definitely the easiest

to install. Use the

CyanogenMod installer

available from the

developer’s website

CyanogenMod

A slick alternative to

CyanogenMod, AOKP is

easy to set up and

features plenty of neat

tricks that can speed up

your performance. It’s

regularly updated too,

and it’s really nice and

simple to use.

AOKP

An older ROM that

collates features from

others on this list and

streamlines them a

little. Not superslick, but

it is pretty quick. Check

that your device is

supported though.

A pared back ROM that

cuts out a lot of the

special features that

other ROMS showcase

and keeps things nice

and simple instead. It’s

not as slick as some,

but it’s still neat and

easy to use.
