The Glass Recycling Co (TGRC), South Africa’s
national body for encouraging glass recycling,
wants to see more recycling! Recycling is an
effective way to drastically reduce pollution
and waste. In South Africa, there are more than
1,200 landfill sites to which approximately
90% of all solid waste is sent.
However, through reusing and recycling

glass, 82% of our glass packaging was
prevented from being sent to landfills. The
process of recycling glass is proven to lower
the levels of air and water pollution by 20%
and 50% respectively. What’s more, for every
tonne of recycled glass used to manufacture
new glass, approximately 1.2 tonnes of non-
renewable natural resources are saved.

TGRC currently has in excess of 4,000 glass
recycling banks across South Africa where
members of the community can recycle their
glass bottles and jars. The company believes
in the infinite potential of glass to make a real
and positive contribution to society. TGRC
are committed to prove that glass recycling is
worth the effort.

Since 2004, Frederique Constant creates its own

calibre(s), entirely in-house designed, produced and

assembled. This was an important step for the brand to

become more independent, having more control over the

production line, improve quality and accelerate product

delivery. In-house calibre(s) have become a trademark

for Frederique Constant and play an important role in the

brand’s strategy towards the future.

crown. Through the transparent caseback, the movement
shows off the famous Perlage and circular Côtes de
Genève decorations present on all in-house caliber(s). It
took the brand’s research and development department
and watchmakers two years to perfect this movement and
introduce it to the watchmaking market.

The watch
The timepiece offers three variations: silver or navy
blue-coloured dials and in either a rose gold-plated or
polished stainless-steel case. The 42mm three parts-case
holds a convex sapphire crystal and see-through caseback
revealing the inner workings of the FC-712 caliber(s),
offering a 38-hour power reserve. The two counters of the
moonphase and date are respectively located at three and
nine o’clock. The elegant curved dial merges seamlessly
with the case showcasing printed roman numeral indexes
and hand-polished hands. Finally, the dark brown, black
or blue croco calf leather strap completes the look.
