Sony’s Stamina and Ultra Stamina
modes that prov ide a much improved
ranular control of background
rocesses. This is great, but it doesn’t
help those A ndroid users who use a
device from another manufacturer.
Power Nap tries to fi ll this gap.
Implemented as an Xposed module,
Power Nap is inspired by Sony’s
Stamina mode, but it will work on any
rooted device from Android 4.1
onwards with the Xposed framework
installed. When your screen is off,
Power Nap can stop ser v ices, alarms
and wakelocks from waking the device
from sleep, consequently massively
improv ing batter y life. Of course, your
preferred apps can be whitelisted so
that you still receive notifications when
the screen is off (particularly important
if you are using a smartwatch), but
those power-hogging apps you often
don’t even realise are running will be
stopped. Together with a good
monitoring app such as GSam Battery
Monitor, it restores complete control of
your device to you.Power Nap is built on the
Xposed framework to give low level
access to system functions. Xposed
is compatible with devices up to
Android 5.1.1 as Marshmallow isn’t
currently supported. Downloaded
from the forum at XDA-Developers,
Xposed consists of an APK and a ZIP
fi le installed using a custom recovery.1
