CHAPTER 9: Android Graphic Design: Making Your UI Designs Visual 341
Figure 9-27. Use the Colors ➤ Hue Saturation menu sequence to shift the Hue value 30 degrees to a green hue
- The work process to follow for this involves the same work process you
undertook with the imagebutton1normal.png image asset, only you will name
the (green) “pressed state” image button asset imagebutton1press.png
instead. The work process is shown in Figures 9 -2 3 through 9 -2 6 and involves
saving out the (XXHDPI) 500-pixel asset and then scaling from that asset
down to an XHDPI (256 pixel), HDPI (128 pixel), MDPI (64 pixels), and LDPI
(32 pixels) asset, saving to the appropriate resolution density folder each time
using the File ➤ Export As menu sequence. Be sure to use the Edit ➤ Undo
Scale Image command each time you scale (called “downsampling”), so that
you give the GIMP cubic scaling algorithm the full 500 pixels of data to use to
create an optimal image scaling result. - After you finish creating the five pressed state ImageButton digital image
assets, you’ll then need to create your five focused state ImageButton digital
image assets, which we will color red, again by using the Hue-Saturation
algorithm, with a negative 80 Hue degree shift value, which you can see in
the dialog shown in Figure 9-28.
