CHAPTER 9: Android Graphic Design: Making Your UI Designs Visual 351

Next, you learned about the Android ImageButton class and used GIMP to create all of the assets,
60 of them in total, needed to implement three multi-state ImageButton UI elements, each having 4
UI states, across 5 resolution density levels or targets. You learned quite a bit about the proper way
to utilize GIMP for a streamlined digital image editing and compositing work process, and got a lot of
practice as well creating cool image assets for three ImageButtons for four interactive states (which
animate the buttons on touch) across five resolution densities spanning smartwatches through 4K
UHD iTV sets. My, we are impressive, aren’t we? You also learned how to implement multi-state
ImageButtons and NinePatchDrawables by using XML markup.

Next, in Chapter 10, you’ll learn all about Animation for Android, including foundational animation
theory and concepts, how to create a wide spectrum of resolution density animation assets, how
to create frame animation assets for use with Android’s ImageView class, and how to make the
SlidingPaneLayout UI elements interactive.
