In my case, this was Windows 8.1, which the site auto-detected for me. This download is almost
140MB, and includes more than half a dozen productivity software packages, including a word
processor, spreadsheet software, presentation software, drawing software, an equation editor, and a
database engine.
- Once you have downloaded the OpenOffice 4.1 EXE installer, install it using
the default settings, and then create the quick launch icon for it on your
Taskbar. You should run OpenOffice 4.1 to assure it’s set up properly on your
system, as you have done before with your other new software acquisitions.
You have now set up a complete Android development and production business workstation, and
can accomplish any task that may be required of you by a client! You can draw up contracts, edit
digital video or digital audio, do 3D modeling, rendering, and animation, prototype UI designs, create
digital image compositing pipelines, and of course, create Android applications!
Other Open Source Software
There are lots of other open source software packages that are available if you want to download
and install them. Popular open source repositories include SourceForge.Net, GitHub, and Code.
Google.Com if you want to go pan for open source gold.
Some of these other open source packages in the 3D software genre include: SketchUp
(architectural rendering), TerraGen 3.1 (virtual world creation), Microsoft TrueSpace (3D), Wings 3D,
Bishop 3D, POV Ray 3.7 (3D Rendering), and DAZ Studio 4.6 (Character Modeling).
