32 CHAPTER 1: Setting Up Your Android App Development System
Next, we downloaded and installed Lightworks 11.5, a digital video editing and special effects
package that was recently released as open source and is currently available as of 2014 for the
Windows, Linux, and Macintosh OSs.
Finally, we installed Apache Open Office 4.1, just to make sure that you have a completely
well-rounded open source Android development workstation at your disposal. Remember, your
Android development business will require that you use a business productivity software package as
well, so we cover all of the bases by finishing up with this Oracle business software suite.
In the next chapter, you will learn exactly how to set-up an Android workstation and how to create an
AVD emulator for the Google Nexus Android device. We will also learn more about Android as well
as review what will be covered during the course of this book.
