CHAPTER 11: Digital Video: Streaming Video, MediaPlayer, and MediaController classes 423
Creating Digital Video Content: Terragen3
The next thing that you need to learn is how to create digital video content that you can use to
show the various concepts which you just learned about in the previous sections of this chapter.
I’m going to use Terragen 3.1, a world creation 3D animation software package from Planetside
Software, because it is not only an impressive 3D software package, but is also a professional-level
3D production software package. Fortunately, there is the free version as well as a paid Pro version,
which I suggest that you purchase if you are serious about having all the primary production tools
in your quiver. Go to their website at Planetside.co.uk and download the latest version of Terragen3.
After you download and install the software:
- Launch it with a shortcut icon, and you will see the Credits and Support
tabs, shown in Figure 11-15, in the various rendered start-up screens for the
software. You can see exactly what this software is capable of by viewing
these startup screens!

- As you can see, this software package rocks in the hands of a seasoned
user! Next, we will open a basic seamless looping camera fly-over of a basic
world that you’ll find in the book assets folder called loopingOrbit_v03.tgd
(tgd is TerraGen Data). Use a File ➤ Open menu sequence to open it in the
software, as shown in Figure 11-16.
