If for some reason the Neptune Pine AVD emulator does not start, use the Window ➤ Android
Virtual Device Manager menu sequence, and select the Neptune Pine AVD. Then click the Start
button. In the Launch Options dialog that appears, shown in Figure 15-15 on the left, select the
Scale display to real size, Wipe user data, and Save to snapshot options. Click the Launch
button to start the AVD, shown on the right in Figure 15-15.

The Android OS loader animation is shown in pane two of Figure 15-15. After it finishes, and the
OS loads, drag the dotted line to the left until it turns into a white lock, as shown in pane three
of Figure 15-15. If you happen to get the “Make yourself at home” screen, shown in pane four of
Figure 15-15, click the OK button, and the OS start up screen will load. This screen is shown on the
far left (first) pane of Figure 15-16. Click the Open Apps button, which has six dots (representing
app icons) in the middle. If you encounter the “Choose some apps” screen, shown in pane two of
Figure 15-16, click on the OK button to enter the apps area, which is shown in the third pane of
Figure 15-16. Pane three is what it looks like when you drag each app screen of six apps to the left
to reveal the next six apps.
