CHAPTER 16: The Future of Android: The 64-Bit Android 5.0 OS 635

The final step in this lengthy and challenging “update and install the latest SDK” work process is to
use the Status column of the SDK Manager to confirm that everything has installed correctly,
as shown in Figure 16-52.

Figure 16-52. Go into the SDK Manager one final time to confirm that revision 3 of the SDK platform and Android TV are installed

As you can see, everything has now been installed, and it is time to exit and restart the Android
Studio (IntelliJ) IDEA, load all of the new software into memory, and see if that fixes the currently
broken Android project.

It is important to note that you do not need to start IntelliJ as an administrator this time around, as
you are done updating software packages, SDKs, APIs, system images, and the like, so you don’t
need this level of power simply to run the IntelliJ IDEA and develop Android 5.0 applications (or
Android TV or Wear apps).

As you can see in Figure 16-53, your HelloAndroid5 project is back—and in working condition to
boot! Notice that if you click on the drop-down selector in the graphic-oriented Preview area on the
right, as I did before I captured this figure, you will see that the Android Wear as well as the Android
TV application preview capabilities have now been added to the Android Studio IDEA. Sometimes
success can take some persistence!
