- Using cream thread, machine-
blanket-stitch edges of each mitten
appliqué. (For blanket-stitching tips,
see page 96.) Machine-straight-stitch
across bottom of mitten appliqués to
mark cuffs (see photo, right). If desired,
machine-embroider mitten appliqué
cuffs with a decorative stitch.
QUILT TREE SKIRT
- Layer appliquéd tree skirt top,
batting, and backing; baste. - Quilt as desired. Designer Sherri K.
Falls machine-quilted in the ditch
along the center unit seams and
stitched a line through the center of
the outer border.
After making a
mitten cuff with
straight stitching,
use a decorative
machine stitch,
such as a snowflake
stitch, to embellish
the cuff.
FINISH TREE SKIRT
- Referring to Diagram 7, position
circle template in the middle of the
center unit; trace. Use a ruler to draw
a line from edge of traced circle to
edge of tree skirt through the center
of unappliquéd triangle. Carefully cut
along line and around circle to create
an opening.
