Judy (Original

Motion Picture

Soundtrack)

Renée Zellweger

Renée Zellweger might be best-known as
an actress – but with her Oscar-nominated
performance in the big-screen version of
Chicago in 2002, she proved that she could
sing. Therefore, she was up to the task of
emulating tragic star Judy Garland’s vocals for
the new biopic, Judy – and various Zellweger
renditions feature on this soundtrack.

FIVE FACTS:

  1. The Garland classics rerecorded for this
album include “Over the Rainbow” and
    “Come Rain or Come Shine”.

  2. Zellweger performed the songs live,
rather than lip-synced to recordings, during
    shooting for the film.

  3. This was because director Rupert Goold
“wanted to capture the shared experience
that a performer has with an audience,”
    Zellweger told Vanity Fair.

  4. The soundtrack also includes duets with
    Rufus Wainwright and Sam Smith.

  5. The film has been critically acclaimed,
with the critics’ consensus on Rotten
    Tomatoes praising Zellweger’s on-screen
    performance as “deeply committed”.
