just 8% of consumers have tried using voice-
enabled devices for shopping purposes, 74%
of consumers know about voice shopping.
Furthermore, in a recent survey by the
Capgemini Research Institute, almost 70%
of respondents said they planned, within the
next three years, to increasingly use their voice
assistant in place of visits to a store or bank.


Oremus has pictured a world where Alexa’s
reach could be almost literally everywhere; a
world of “Eero routers with Alexa built in; Ring
doorbells with AWS face recognition; city streets
blanketed in Amazon-powered Wi-Fi designed
to work seamlessly with both Alexa and Ring”.
It seems a long way from the times when Alexa
would just be used to play music or check the
weather forecast, and whether you are worried
might depend strongly on exactly where you
stand in the privacy debate.
