The United Nations University (UNU) has been a go-to think tank for
impartialresearchonthepressingglobalproblemsof humansurvival,conflict
prevention,developmentandwelfare,forthepastfourdecades.Withmore
than 400 researchersin 13 countries,UNU’sworkspansthefullbreadthof
the 17 SDGs,generatingpolicy-relevantknowledgetoeffectpositiveglobal
changeinfurtheranceofthepurposesandprinciplesoftheCharterofthe
UnitedNations.
TheCentre:UNUniversity’sCentreforPolicyResearch(UNU-CPR)in New
York isanindependentthinktankwithinthe UnitedNations system.We
combineresearchexcellencewithdeepknowledgeofthemultilateralsystem
togenerateinnovativesolutionstocurrentandfutureglobalpublicpolicy
challenges.TheCentrecurrentlyhasfourprogrammeareas:(i)Preventing
ViolentConflict;(ii)DigitalTechnologyandGlobalOrder;(iii)FightingModern
SlaveryandHumanTrafficking;and(iv)TheFutureof Multilateralism.
ThePosition:TheDirectorprovidesstrategicleadershipandmanagementof
UNU-CPRprogrammes,representingUNUin NewYork.
Qualifications:TheDirectorshouldhavequalificationsthatlendto UNU-CPR
thenecessarycredibilityintheinternationalpolicycommunityandprovide
leadershipandqualitycontrolin theconductof UNU-CPRactivities.
Experience:A master’sdegreeor doctoralqualification in PublicPolicy,
PoliticalScience,Law,Economics,orInternationalDevelopment.Knowledge
ofandexperiencein thethink-tankworld.DetailedknowledgeoftheUNand
ofitsfunctionsandactivities.Stronginternationalresearchbackgroundand
publications.Expertiserelatedtopolicyresearch,knowledgetranslationand
researchcommunication.A provenrecordof effectivepolicythoughtleadership.
Stronganddemonstrableinternationalfundraisingskills.Soundfinancialand
humanresourcemanagementskills.Gender,culturalandpoliticalsensitivity.
FluencyinEnglishisrequired.FluencyinanotherofficialUNlanguageis
desirable.
