Poop Protectors
Adult Komodo dragons will eat their young if they
are hungry, so young Komodo dragons live in the
trees for nine months. They come down to the
ground when they are big enough to fight off older
dragons. The young Komodo dragons also have a
good trick if attacked while on the ground—they
roll in dragon dung, or poop. Adults don’t like the
stink and stay away.
More About Komodo Dragons
Wild Komodo dragons live only on Indonesia's Lesser
Sunda Islands. They are the largest and heaviest
lizards on Earth. These giant reptiles can weigh
between 150 and 300 pounds (68 and 140 kilograms)
and have a clumsy back-and-forth waddle.
