Octopuses are great escape artists! They are
intelligent animals that can escape from even the
smallest opening in a tank’s lid at an aquarium. To
escape, an octopus will squeeze its squishy, bag-like
body, including all eight arms, through the opening.
Then it will slither down to the floor and try to make
its way back to the ocean.

Octopuses have no bones in their bodies. The beak
is the only hard part. So its beak must be able to fit
through an opening. Then the octopus can squish the
rest of its soft body in or out of just about any space.
