HOT

Oftentimes we come at you like a
gin-whiffy market trader, hounding
you to smash down all your cash on some
two-week wonder or other. But today
we have our other hat on: Sebastian, the
savvy shopper. And he’s saying, look at
this new iPad, right? It might not be called
the iPad Ultra Pro or some such, but as a
straight-named replacement for the iPad
Air 2, it’s worth a peep. But only, says Seb
while prodding you in the sternum, if you
play it cool. If it’s just a house tablet, for
lolling about with in front of the TV, then
don’t be a techno-muppet; be sure to get
the base model – the 32GB Wi-Fi one
without the 4G SIM. It’ll still have the faster
A9 processor, and the 9.7in 2048x
display, but it’ll only cost £339. Which, for
an Apple tablet that’ll last you a good
couple of years, says Seb conspiratorially,
is a bit of a jellied eel.
As hot as... being a frugal Dougal

While the new iPad has
a brighter screen than any
of the previous models bar the
Pro, the LCD panel lacks an
anti-reflective coating. It
essentially becomes a
mirror from the faintest
hints of sunlight.
