Flic’s little Bluetooth shortcut buttons
for smartphones have been around for
a while. But they didn’t really work, we
reckon, because a pocketable little phone
isn’t the sort of device that really requires
a separate shortcut button.
If you have one, though, drag it out
of that dusty drawer – or buy one (£32).
Because Flic’s Mac app is here. See, now

it makes sense, because computers are
clunky, passwordy things that are crying
out for an easy-access button. You can use
it to trigger a Spotify playlist, say, or control
your smart home.
‚ e app works with Philips Hue, Logitech,
Sonos, etc – and also being able to build Flic
presses into IFTTT recipes makes this little
blue blob exponentially excellent.

ROBERTS SPLASH MINI

There’s no power socket in your bathroom, because
before you were even born people set a precedent for
idiocy. This makes it awkward to include the bathroom in
your multiroom audio setup. There are battery-powered
speakers, sure, but streaming over Wi-Fi makes for
sucky battery life. The solution? Radio! Remember?
The bath-friendly Roberts Splash Mini is a Bluetooth
DAB radio with a battery that will last for days and
days – and it does, if you’re done with retro, double
as a Bluetooth speaker.

TIVOLI MODEL ONE DIGITAL

As useful as the Roberts Splash Mini is, it’s not a speaker
that’s exactly oozing with character. The Tivoli Model One
Digital, though? A class act encased in furniture-grade
wood, available in three colours. A proper aerial and FM
tuner mean there’s analogue sound to go with the lovely
analogue looks, but this is not a device that’s chained to
the past. DAB and Bluetooth are part of the package, as
are Deezer, TuneIn, Tidal and Spotify. You can even take
the retro action multiroom by adding some super-cute
Tivoli ART satellite speakers.
