Gill UniversityandMcGillMedicalSchool
in 1964.Ralphcompletedhis Psychiatric
residency atMichaelReeseHospitalin
Chicago.Heand Anitaweremarriedat the
SheratonMt.RoyalHotelinMontreal,Can-
ada on April2, 1966duringhis first yearof
residency.Whilecompletinghisresiden-
cy,his daughterDeborah wasborn.Ralph
thenservedatPortsmouthNavalHospital
for 2years.Ralphand his familymovedto
Washington,DC area,wherehis two sons,
Iraand Michaelwereborn.Ralphstarted
his ownpractice,and he deeplycaredfor
his patientsfor 50 years.Ralphpracticed
Freudianpsychiatryandhadasenseof
humortomatch.Helovedtotravelwith
his wifeandvisitedover 130 countries.
Theylovedplanningfortheiruniquetrips,
collectingart fromall overthe world,and
carefullyplacingthemintheirhome.Ralph
also enjoyedhis tropicalfish and was often
moreknowledgeablethanthespecialtyfish
storeowners.Hehad 10 tanksincludinga
110 gallontank.He was agreat dancerand

was nevershy withhis dancemoves.Ralph
wasadaily devoteeto crosswordpuzzles.
He alwayshad timeto help his childrenwith
homework,evenafteralong day at his of-
fice,oragameof cardswithhis grandkids.
Ralph’sbiggestpridewas his wife,children,
and his grandchildren.He is survivedby his
wife,Anita;his children,Deborah Kornblu-
thBerger(Burman)ofRockville,MD,Dr.Ira
(Michele)Kornbluthof Pikesville,MD, and
Michael(Jennifer)KornbluthofChapelHill,
NC;11 adoring grandchildrenBenjamin,
Eli,Ezra,Simone,Shoshana,Isaac,Eva,Avi,
Mitchel,Milesand Sayna,and manynieces,
nephewsand cousins.Ralph is predeceased
by his two brothers,Harveyand DavidKorn-

accident.
Mrs.McMinn wasan active volunteer,
servingon the ChathamTownshipBoard
of Adjustment,the MorrisCountyVisual
AidesCommittee,the NewJerseySchool
Transportation Committee and as vice
presidentof the ChathamTownshipBoard
of Education.She was amemberof the Ju-
niorLeagueoftheDistrictofColumbiaand
of Morristown,NJ,winningits Volunteerof
theYearAwardin1976.Shewasinvolved
in varioushospitalgroups, PTAs,Girl Scouts,
youthathleticgroups,andasaBoardMem-
ber of the AmericanRed Cross,southeast
MorrisChapter.

She was aFellow ofDrew University,Finan-
cial Chairpersonof the SwarthmoreCollege
25thReunion,amemberof the Boardof
Governorsof UnionCountyCollege,and a
memberemeritusof the UnionCountyCol-
lege Foundation.
Mrs.McMinnwasco-chairoftheAltarGuild
of the EpiscopalChurchof the Redeemer,
wasamemberofthe401KCommitteeof
the Sulgrave Club,and servedon the Golf
Committeesof CongressionalCountryClub
and Kenwood Golf and CountryClub.She
wasthe tournamentchairfor boththeir
women’sgroupsand playedin the MPGand
DistrictLeagues.She was also on the Con-

and the HandicapCommittee.
Mrs.McMinnenjoyedtravelingwithfami-
lyandfriends.Shevisited 40 oftheUnited
Statesand 65 countriesacross6continents.

tica, she turnedit downdue to her dislikeof
coldweather.
She was precededin deathby her husband,
RobertW. McMinn.She is survivedby her

Parlett L. Moore,Jr.,known to family as Bo,
and friendsas “P.L.”, was bornin Washing-
ton, D.C.,and themiddlechildof ParlettL.
Moore,Sr. and ThelmaCrawfordMoore.His
earlyyearswerespentinRockville,Mary-
landwherehe attendedLincolnJuniorHigh
School.Bo spentmostof his HighSchool
yearsin Baltimore,Marylandwherehe grad-
uatedfromFredrickDouglasHighSchool.
He latergraduatedfromHowardUniversity,
wherehe pledgedOmegaPsi Phi Fraterni-
ty,and receivedadegreein electricalen-
gineering.This led him to Californiawhere

he workedfor LockheedCorporation.After
returningto the EastCoast,Bo workedat
several collegesincludingMorganState
Collegeand AllenCollegeas asciencein-
structor.Helater tookajob withthe Federal
Departmentof Transportationfromwhich
he retiredon January2, 2005 after35 years
of service.BoenjoyedJazz, hunting,fishing,
boating,and just beingoutdoorsaroundthe
water.Hespentmuchof his timearound
his beachhousein Annapolis,MD. Bo was
alsoan activeorganizerand participantin
the annualMaritimeRepublicof Eastport
andAnnapolisTug-of-War charityevent.
Parlett spent50+ yearswithhis life partner,
Sarah Ceasar,who precededhim in death
in November2021.Theyspentmanygood
yearstravelingandenjoyingfamilyand
friendsin summersat the Annapolisbeach
home.Parlettis survivedby his twinsons,
Paul and PierreBeauchemin;brother,Daniel
C. Moore,Sr.;two nephews,OliverAlexan-
der Smith,Jr.and DanielC. Moore,Jr.;three
nieces,MonicaSmith,YvetteMoore,and
AliciaJames;onegrandniece,Gwendolyn
Smith;grandnephew,LoganJames;and a
numberof otherrelatives.Hewas preceded

He did as he was told by the talented,piousand

andrearedin Perrysburg,OH, asuburbof
Toledo.His father,Urban E. Bowes,was director
of researchat Owens-IllinoisGlassCo.David
attendedlocalpublicand privateschoolsas
wellas RidleyCollegeboardingschoolin St.
Catharines(cq),Ontario,Canada.He played
varsitybasketballbut had to matriculatein a
foreignland to do so.
He was atrusteeof the WashingtonTheological
Consortium for ecumenical and interfaith
outreach,chairedthe boardof the then College
of Preachers(nowthe VirginiaMaeCenter)
at WashingtonNationalCathedral, and was a
trusteeof the InternationalEye Foundation.
Mr.Bowesenjoyedclassicjazz,bluegrass and

the end of adecadein St. Louis,Mr. Bowes
arrangedfor arare conversationwithDr.Wil-
liamMasters,the acclaimedsex researcher

whenthe doctor'sfirst bookwaspublished
worldwide,the Post-Dispatch declinedto

It was the first of two occasionson whichthe
paperdisappointedMr.Bowesby not covering
storiesin as matureafashionas its Eastand
West coastcounterparts.The otheroccasion
was whenMr.Bowesfiled astory fromaFlorida
nudistcolony.The storywas ''spiked"despite
its scholarlycontext.Mr.Boweshad beensent
coastto coastto measurecultural change;
the headlinehe chosefor this particularessay,
givenOh! Calcutta!'sacclaimedrun on Broad-
way,was "Nudismvs.Nudity."
Mr.Boweswon the Con (cq) Lee Kelliheraward
for newsreportingfromthe St. Louischapter

society.Bythen he was the youngestmember
of the paper'seditorialboard.In this capacity
he wasresponsiblefor organizingeditorial

Mr.Bowesgrewup in asuburbof Toledo,OH, a
city of manufacturersand lawyers.His manual
dexteritywas in the fourteenthpercentileso
"makingthings"wasout.He considereda
careerin the law,but foundit too much
like mathematics-with-wordsfor his comfort.
Forits part,the Universityof MichiganLaw
Schoolfoundhis commitmentto clear,graceful
Englishapproachingpoesyto be inappropriate.
Accordingly,hetransferredto the university's
RackhamGraduateSchoolin pursuitof amas-
ter's degreein journalism.
He committedhimself to the goal once
declaredby aWorld WarIforeigncorrespon-
dent,RichardHardingDavis:"to say new things
in an old wayand old thingsin anew way"
whilealwaysstrivingfor accuracy.His first
steepchallengewas to applythis objectiveto
the high schooldatingsceneby way of aweekly
calledThe Bee Hive.
Beforeearningthe M.A.,Mr.Bowesstudied
navalsciencein NavyROTC for fouryears
at the Universityof Virginiawhileearninga
B.A. in English.His sea trainingwas conducted
aboardthe USSCARPELLOTTI, APD136,an
attacktransport.The curriculumrangedfrom
squintingthroughcelestialnavigationinstru-
mentsto aimingconcussivegunneryto scour-
ing saltwatertoiletchutesknownas heads.
Mr.Bowesscouredsomeheads,then volun-
teeredto writeashipboardnewsletter.Healso
co-editedthe UVAClassof 1956yearbook,
Corks&Curls,and wasamemberof the
BetaThetaPi socialfraternity.Heran 440-
yard dashesand mile relaysfor the university's
varsitytrack teamand was admittedto the Eli
Bananaand Zhonorsocieties.
Aftergraduating"withdistinction,"Mr.Bowes

in the Pentagonand at the NationalSecurity

tion as an EnglishTeacherfor the San Diego
SchoolSystemswereshe taughtfor over
20 years.Donnacontinuedher education
and earnedher Master’sDegreeat Pepper-
dineUniversityand studiedEnglishfurther,
spendingtwo summersat OxfordUniversity
for adoctoral program withNewYork Uni-
versity.
Donnalovedto readbooksand magazines,
enjoyedBritishTV shows,and murdermys-
teries.She enjoyedspendingtimewithher
familyand friendsand lovedagood laugh
withthem.Donnawas well-traveledand en-
joyedspendingtimein Hawaiiand England.
She leavesher two lovingbrothers,David
and MichaelBisbee;and manyclosefriends
on the West Coast.Precedingher in death

“I was happyat Wakefield.My goal in life in
highschoolwasto be acheerleaderand I

got to do that.At Wakefield,Itook Art-En-
glish-MusicSeminar,the bestclassIever
had.Integrating the arts withthe studyof
literatureendedup beingmy approach/phi-
losophywhenIlater becameateacher.
In 1965,Istartedmy first job at Garfinck-
el’satSevenCornersandworkedthere
duringbreaksand summerswhileattending
UNC-Greensboro.BecauseIlovedto read,
my B.A. was in English.Iacceptedthe first
teachingjob Iwas offeredand workedfor
San DiegoCity Schoolsfor 25 years.The first
sevenyears,mygoal was to savethe world
throughreadingand studyingstoriesand to
get to the end of the pay scaleas soonas
possible.That meantgettingan M.A.at Pep-
perdineUniversityplus 60 hoursin graduate
coursesin English.Did that!ThenIwanteda
condo.Got one!
Next,Iwantedto go to England.In 1980,I
traveledto Londonfor the first time.Lovedit!
SchemedhowIcouldgo back,and founda
doctoral program offeredby NYUfor teach-
ers of Englishwhichincludedtwo summers
in Oxford.Thattimewas the highlightof my
life,mybliss time.When Ireturnedto San
Diego,Ihad beenriffedand lost my place
in the highschoolIwas teaching.Iended
up in ajuniorhigh,whichwas not whereI
wantedto be.Iquit the NYUprogram, my
biggestprotest(a mistake).Eventually,I
got backinto highschoolagainand Igot to
teachAmericanLit., my favorite.The school
evenhad aview of the Pacific Oceanfrom
the teachers’parkinglot, but it wasabad
schooland in 1995,Iquit.
Imovedbackto Arlington,VA.Sincethen
I’ve workedin abookstore,intwo law firms,
and NOVA-Annandale,and nowIwork full-
timefor two CPAs,but just duringtax sea-
son.Inow live in my Dad’shouse,which
is whereIwas whenIwent to Wakefield!I
haveavery quietlife.Ilike art galleries,mu-
seums,libraries,Britishmysteries,PBS,and
the Redskins.”

E. G. Stassinopouloswas bornin Germany;
his grandfatherJohannvon Pascalideshad
emigratedto GermanyfromConstantinople
in the 19thcentury.“Stass” wasastudent at
Berlin’sAcademischeGymnasiumin 1935,
whenHitlerJugendfootsoldiersassaulted
him and his brother,and left themseriously
injured.The familyfled to Greeceto escape
Nazism;afterthe Axis occupationof Greece
in 1941,Stassservedas amemberof the

GreekEKKAresistancemovement. Stass
emigratedto the US in 1954and changed
his professionfromlaw to physics.In1961,
he joinedNASA,and,as the Head of God-
dardSFC’sRadiationPhysicsOffice,worked
on researchin magnetosphericphysics,
geomagnetism, solar-terrestrial relation-
ships,natural and man-maderadiationex-
posure,radiation effectson biologicaland
electronicsystemsandcomponents,and
radiationenvironmentmodeling.Stass was
the principalinvestigatorin multipleoriginal
researchfor NASA,and he was the author
or co-authorof hundredsof papersand
articlesin peer-reviewedscientificjournals
and booksin the field of spaceradiation.He
was awardedapatentin 2008for his min-
iaturizedradiationspectrometer,currently
on the NASADSCOVRsatellite.At95years
of age,heco-authoredaNASATechnical
Report“Forty-Year ‘Drift’andChangeof
the SouthAtlanticAnomaly(SAA)”,making
him one of the oldestpublishingresearch
scientistsin NASA’s history.Stassand his
late wifeEffieweretogetherfor 67 years.
Theyare survivedby theirdaughterYolanda
and son-in-lawAnastassiosChassiakos,and
theirthreegrandchildren,Anastasia,George
(Tenzing),and Alexander.Funeral services
