STEP 2 Use a miter saw to cut a 20° angle on all eight
legs (A), removing a corner that is 4^1 ⁄ 2 in. tall and 1^1 ⁄ 2 in.
wide. Remember, if you’re using cedar that’s smooth
on one side and rough on the other, you’ll want to cut
four boards with the smooth side up and four boards
with the rough side up.

STEP 3 Use a circular saw to rip the following pieces:

  • Cut two of the short supports (F) in thirds, creating
    six strips, each 21^1 ⁄ 2 x 1^3 ⁄ 4 in.

  • Cut two of the long supports (G) in thirds, creating
    six strips, each 29^1 ⁄ 4 x 1^3 ⁄ 4 in.

  • Cut one long top frame (D) in half,
    creating two strips, each 19^1 ⁄ 4 x 2^5 ⁄ 8 in.

  • Cut one short top frame (E) in half,
    creating two strips at 33 x 2^5 ⁄ 8 in.

STEP 4 With the wood leftover from Board #9, create
the (H) bottom braces. To do so, first use the circular
saw to rip a 1^1 ⁄ 2 -in-wide strip from Board #9. Then
measure and mark the bottom braces that are 8 x 1^1 ⁄ 2
in. with 45° corners onto the strip, and cut them with a
miter saw.
