County Community College, Detroit, Michigan, for 3 years and was employed as
an assistant quality control manager for 1 year at Quaker Maid Inc., a dairy industry
in Detroit. He also worked as a microbiologist/aquatic toxicologist at a wastewater
treatment plant in Detroit for 2 years. His research activities have focused on the
microbiology of minimally processed cantaloupe and honeydew melons with empha-
sis on understanding bacterial attachment, development of novel techniques for
decontamination, and minimizing bacterial transfer from melon surfaces to fresh-
cut pieces.
