FINALS HANDLEY PAGE HALIFAX

130 FLYPAST May 2015

The Yorkshire Air Museum
at Elvington rolled out its
magnifi cent recreation of
Handley Page Halifax III LV907
Friday The 13th, alongside
re-enactors, on March 13 (which
was, appropriately, a Friday)
for a night photography shoot.
The original LV907 completed
128 ‘ops’ with 158 Squadron. The
museum’s recreation of this
worthy subject is based on the
fuselage of Halifax II HR792, part
of which was famously used
as hen coop by a local crofter.
The wings originally belonged
to another Handley Page type,
Catterick-based Hastings TG536.
Three Halifax units fl ew from
Elvington during World War Two.
