H
eld at Avalon Airport in
Victoria from February
28 till March 1, the
Australian International Airshow
was a spectacular event with
something for everyone. From
ground attractions that included
everything from military
re-enactments to a display from
the RAAF’s dog handling team,
and a host of highlights in the air,
the event was a celebration of a
century of Australian aviation.
Dubbed ‘Heroes of the Sky’, it paid
tribute to the pilots and personnel
that have achieved – and sacrificed
- so much in the name of both
progress and freedom. The flying
display element included machines
representative of the Great War,
covering nearly all aspects of
aviation history up to and including
modern military hardware from the
current RAAF.
