From the time of the Boeing 777’s introduction in 1995, almost 1 300

examples have been built, whilst more than 500 aircraft are on order. In

1996, the 777 was awarded the Robert J. Collier Trophy for being the most

signifi cant aeronautical achievement of the year. The National Aeronautic

Association said that Boeing had designed, manufactured and placed into

service “the world’s most technologically advanced airline transport.”

Over the last two decades, it has become one of the best-selling and most

popular airliners in the world. In fact, it is currently in service with more

than fi fty operators around the world.

In 2017, production of the 777X will begin. It will be the largest aircraft in

the 777 series and incorporate technology used in the 787 Dreamliner.
