Embroider and embellish the
following details:
Q In white, a feather stitch along the
middle of the rocker.
Q In red, a backstitch for the bridle.
Q In black, a backstitch for the
mouth and nose.
Q Sew on a tiny black button for the
eye, or stitch a French knot.
Q Stitch a green swag along the top
of the block in feather stitch.
Q Sew on four (4) star buttons to the
top of the green swag.
Q Sew two (2) red buttons on ends of
the rocker.
Q Sew a small red button on the
holly leaf on the saddle.
Block 2: Title Swag

Cut a 16 in x 6 in background
piece from blue denim.

Cut, position and fuse in place
the swag, leaves, sweet, drum,
ark and the house from appropriate
fabrics. Then, blanket stitch around
each piece to secure.

Embroider and embellish the
following details:
Q Sew three (3) red buttons on
each holly leaf.
Q Sew a red button on each end
of the swag.
Q Sew a red button in the middle
of the sweet.
Q Embroider a feather stitch on the
drum and swag.
Q In red, backstitch the wording
‘The Nutcracker’ and leaf veins.
Block 3: The
Gingerbread Men

Cut a 12 in x 4 in background
piece from red denim.

Cut, position and fuse in place
the gingerbread men from
appropriate fabrics. Blanket stitch
around each piece to secure.
TECHNICAL TIP
Remember to use a
walking foot on your
machine as this will
prevent any puckering
of the layers. You can
of course hand quilt if
you prefer.
