ParkMuseum,it’shearteningtohearthatquilts
havebeenchosenasthethemeforanexhibition
tocelebratethemuseum’s90thyear.Quilters
havealwaysrecognisedthevalueof quiltstothe
widercommunityasobjectsthatopendoors
toanexplorationof thepast,andit’sexciting
toseea localmuseumprovidingsucha varied
programmethatreachesouttosomany.
GunnersburyParkandMuseumarepartof
anambitioustransformationwillturnthiscorner
of westLondonintoa livelypublicspacethrough
aninitiativecalled‘Gunnersbury2026’.This
transformationis wellunderwayand,asyou
arriveat thegatesof the 75 hectaresof parkland,
youbegintoappreciatewhata greatspacethis
trulyis.It is a focalpointfora wholerangeof
communityactivities,fromgentlewalksthrough
thefootpathswiththeHeadGardener,arttrails,
a regularStitch,Knit& Nattereventandmuch
more.Whenyoucombinethisvisionwiththe
legacythatMissSmeeandsomanyothershave
bestowedtothelocal residents, there is much to
look forward to.
