“TheMagnoliaplantis boththestatetreeandstateflowerofMississippi,

USA.Therehappentobemany,manyvariationsandinterpretationsofthis

block,however,thisparticularonewasfirstseenina publicationnamedThe

OklahomaFarmerandStockmanin1930.It is perhapsthemostchallengingof

theblocksthatrepresentthatState– although,I thinkasthisis thelastblock

inourBlockof the Month sampler quilt, our hand-piecing skills should be up

tothetest!

Yes,youheardright,thisis thelastblock!If you’vebeenstitchingandquilting

yourconnectorlatticeblockstoo,thiswillbethefinalblockonthefinalrow.If

youhavebeenquiltingas yougo,thenallyouneedto dois stitchyourlastrow

andfinishthequiltingbetweenthosetworows,andyouwillbefinished!You

haveworkedhardonmakingthisquiltoverthe past year and, for lots of you,

mostlybyhand.Whowouldhavethought?

Withthismonthcomesthebigrevealof thethreequiltsmadein thethree

colourwaysthatyouhaveseentheblockin eachmonth.Thevintagequiltwas

handquiltedwithcottonPerleno. 12 andconstructedin the‘quiltas yougo’

methodthatyouhavehadtheinstructionsforin previousissues.Theothertwo

wereputtogetherin a traditionalfashionandthenmachinequiltedin a grid.

Youcanseethateachquilthasuseda dierentcentrein theconnectorblocks,

makingeachof themslightlyunique.Forme,thisis oneof theloveliestthings

aboutpatchworkandquilting.There’salwaysmorethanonewayto complete

a quiltandhopefully,bytryingnewskillsandconstructiontechniques,everyone

willfinda wayto stitchtheirveryown.A hugewelldoneto each and every one
