Green Fly-in


T


he fifth Radial and Trainer Fly-in was
held in April at the Wolverhampton
Halfpenny Green Airport, South
Staffordshire. However, due to strong
winds on the Sunday, it became a one-day
event. With a good turnout on the Satur-
day, perhaps the highlight for many was
theattendanceofAvroAnsonT.21WD413/
G-VROE. Now owned by Glenn James, it
made its first appearance away from its
newhomeatSleapAerodromeinShrop-
shire. Also debuting were a recently re-
stored Waco UEC (NC12467) and Stinson
V-77NC33543.TheWacoisoneoftwoair-
worthyinEuropeandisararesightwith
only two others flying in the United States.
The Stinson V-77 was the third of its type
to be imported to the UK in the past few
yearsby‘SpiritintheSky’andhadonlyre-
cently been assembled. It was joined by
long time UK resident G-BUCH, but the or-
ganisers had hoped another two of the type
wouldbepresent.FourHarvardstogether
ataUKfly-inisunusualandtherecould
have been quite a few more had it not been
for weather and serviceability problems.

Stinson V-77 NC33543 is the third of
the type to be recently imported.

Glenn James’ Anson T.21 was previously operated
by the Air Atlantique Classic Flight at Coventry.
