he Australian Vintage Aircraft Society held its Great War Flying
DisplayatCabooltureAirportduringtheleaduptoAnzacDay.
TheeventincludedthefirstdisplayoftheTAVASRoyal
Aircraft Factory SE.5A replica acquired from Holland. It was
joined by the society’s Bristol F.2B Fighter, Fokker Dr.I, and Fok-
ker D.VIII.
TheshowwasalsoagreatopportunityforCaboolture-based
projects to show off their progress with the DAP Beaufort and
PacificDakotaRestoration’sDouglasC-47provingpopular.It
wasalsothelastchancetoseeRalphCusack’sDHDoveflyingat
the airport. Other noteworthy aircraft included four DHC Chip-
munks,twoStinsonL-5Sentinels,anAuster,Nanchang,Yak-52,
SNJ,MustangandWirraway,andaDHMoth, Leopard Moth and

wasbuiltbyAmericanEdStoroin
- Acquired from TVAL in New
Zealand by Jack McDonald, it is now
painted in Captain Ross McPherson
Smith’s1SquadronAFCcolours.
