MSI MAY BE more commonly known for
producing motherboards and graphics
cards, but recently, it‘s been making an
effort to break into the PC case market.
The MSI MPG Sekira 100R is one of its
newest cases to arrive, bringing to the
market a mid-tower that includes a well-
stocked front I/O panel, tempered glass,
and four ARGB fans. What’s not to like?
At first glance, you notice the vented
top panel and a two-tone front that is split
with a brushed aluminum-style finish to
the top and glass to the lower half. It’s
a unique look, especially when you light
up the case, something made easier
by the included 1-6 ARGB controller
that connects to your motherboard
for seamless Mystic Light integration.
Lighting can also be controlled via the
front of the case, located as part of the
front I/O compliment, where you can
switch between profiles using what MSI
calls the Insta-Light Loop Button.
Gaining access to the interior is a bit
different though, as you have to remove
the top panel first, which then allows
you to remove both of the side panels.
Pulling off the front panel reveals a full-
length, clip-in dust filter, while the top
receives a magnetic version. The front
panel, though solid to the face, includes
wide vents on each side to allow plenty
of fresh air to reach the front three fans.
With some cases, you might feel nervous
when pulling off side panels but, on the
Sekira 100R, everything both looks and
feels well built.
Internally, there’s a fairly standard
layout, a large cutout area for installing
CPU coolers, and a good number of tie-
off points for cable management situated
around the motherboard tray. One nice
touch from MSI are the extra cable
grommets, located near the front of the
case, for passing fan cables through to
the rear. These are nicely complemented
by velcro tie-downs to keep all those
cables tucked neatly into place. Not
everyone is a fan of basement shroud
cutouts to show off your power supply,

A compact, subtle and

well-specced case for

the money

FINDING EXTRA SPACE
Moving deeper into the case, the power
supply basement can soon start to feel
cramped. There’s a dual 3.5-inch drive
bay cage fitted here that can be removed,
and should you wish to use anything but
the most compact ATX power supply,
you’ll soon be needing that extra space.
Our final dust filter is found in this area
too, a slot-in sheet that helps protect
the fresh cold air coming in from under
the case. There’s a reasonable amount
of ground clearance to the bottom of
the case too, helping to keep our power
supply running well.
The MSI MPG Sekira 100R will set
you back around $110, for which you are
getting a lot for your money, especially
with the included fans, decent front I/O,
and ARGB hub. As extras, these items
can easily add up and so, if you’re on a
tighter budget, it’s important to have
them included. The Sekira 100R doesn’t
do anything particularly special, but
what it does, it does really well. While
the case can support radiators, going
with anything more than an All-In-One
wouldn’t make sense here. This is a case
for a sensible build that is more about
function with a hint of beauty and style.
The black stealth look is nice and sleek,
but a white version would have been a
nice option to have too.

If you’re looking for a new case that’s
well built and doesn’t need any additional
work to make it fully functional, then
the Sekira 100R is hard to overlook. MSI
has done a great job here with little to
pick out in terms of faults. Sure, it’s not
perfect, but as it manages to stay on the
budget side, even with everything that’s
included, this is a case we wouldn’t
hesitate to recommend. –KRIS BUTTERILL
