can’t stop coming back to. Now that

its campaign is complete and its

modding scene is thriving, it has

become one of the most inventive

and fun quasi-puzzle games around.

You’ll be hooked the first time you

sledgehammer a wall.

MIDNIGHT GHOST HUNT

This is what happens when the

prop hunt genre reaches its natural

conclusion: a 4v4 asymmetrical

showdown between kitted-out

ghostbusters and ghosts with a ton

of tricks up their sleeves. Ghosts can

also fight back with the props, and

that’s just cool.

This is the other game that creeps

back into my life every few months.

Its goals rarely diverge from ‘deliver

materials to a place’, but the

challenge of tearing through mud,

snow, and water in Snowrunner’s

maps never gets old. The perfect

game for truck lovers.

Who knew that Fortnite could get

so much better if you just drop all the

building nonsense? With Zero Build

mode, I’m finally having fun in a game

whose rapid tower building used to

intimidate me. You can also mantle

and sprint now, both of which feel

surprisingly good.

BORDERLESS MODE

HITMAN VR

As VR games go, Hitman VR is

kind of a mess, but it’s also one of my

favourite games on the platform.

Seeing every mission from the latest

trilogy rendered in a headset is an

absolute treat and Hitman’s

mechanics are surprisingly perfect

for the slow pace of VR.

SILENT KILLER

RIDERS REPUBLIC

Riders Republic somehow throws

a bunch of action sports into a single

open world map and makes them all

fun. That’s it, that’s all the game is,

and it rules. Bikes, snowboarding,

jetpacking, and skiing with buds in a

ridiculously pretty sports paradise

makes for a great game.

MONSTER HUNTER RISE

The PC version suffers graphically

from being a port of a Switch game,

but you forget about that quick once

the hunt begins. Rise is everything

that’s great about Monster Hunter

with fewer annoying quirks. It’s also

perfect for co-op. And you can ride a

giant dog into battle!

This is my competitive FPS of

choice at the moment. Not only is its

‘extraction royale’ format a welcome

salve for the frustrating randomness

of battle royale, but its unique arsenal

of late-1800s guns produces some of

the best, most intense firefights I’ve

ever had in a videogame.
