or drop tanks. While you are at
it there are two more holes that
also need to be opened for the
underwing identification lights.
If you want to build your model
with its undercarriage retracted,
the kit provides the gear doors
as one part, which is inserted
from the inside. Otherwise, the
mounting points for the main gear
are attached to the forward spar,
so that the legs can be slotted
over them later on in the build.
Fitting of the lower wing
panel to the spar/fuselage frame
needs careful alignment of the
various locating pins. To ensure
that there was no movement,

which would have allowed gaps to
appear, I clamped the wing spars
to the wings firmly as the cement
dried. The main undercarriage
bays are now made up from a
number of parts, which slot
together to form the bay walls.
One thing to note is that there
are two easily missed decals to
be applied here. At the spar ends,
cross braces, parts F23 and 24,
are now added, and the whole
structure becomes fairly rigid.
All of the major structural
elements of the wing, gear, and
gun bays fit together via slots and
tabs. I only had to adjust these on

a few occasions to get a good fit.
Parts F13 and 14 are the mounting
points for the flaps, and they are
now added to the wing spar.
Now that the wheel bays
were complete, I could turn my
attention to the gun bays.
Bays are included for both
wings, though of course you do not
have to use both. The four cannons
have the ends of the muzzles
moulded solid. You really need to
drill these out or replace them with
the excellent brass barrels made
by Master Models of Poland. As I
was trying to build my example
out of the box, I went with the
cheaper option of drilling them out.
Once they are done, they can
