then framed with buff- painted
Tamiya tape to give a neat edge.
The various navigation lights
were now dipped in Klear and
painted with Tamiya clear red
or green, as appropriate, before
attaching with PVA. I opted to
replace the three original landing
lights on the undercarriage parts
with more Little-Car lenses. I
also modified the kit pitot heads

with brass tube before attaching
them to either side of the forward
fuselage. These, along with the
Master Model AoA probes and nose
pitot tube, were among the last
things to be added to the airframe.
The final touches were a
Flightpath photo-etch crew access
ladder, some Airwaves “Remove
Before Flight” ribbons (attached
to the pylons and undercarriage

legs with fuse wire), and a tiny
map of the Derwent Dam area
placed inside the windscreen.

CONCLUSIONS
Overall, I enjoyed this build very
much. The background research
into the details of the aircraft was
interesting, plus I learned a new
technique (vac-forming). I threw

most of the currently available
after-market items at this kit, which
of course significantly complicated
what would otherwise have been a
straightforward build. There were
the inevitable mishaps and minor
disasters along the way, but I am
very happy with the end result,
and that is all that matters.
