CONCLUSION
These sets cover a variety
of aircraft, with several for the

cockpit in particular is a real
jewel). These Brassin sets are
always high quality and will all
enhance their intended kits.

T

his manufacturer
has been producing
high quality bases
to display your model for
a number of years. And
like most bases, they
represent arrears of
hardstand and runways
perfect for displaying
your static model. But recently
they have made things look
a bit more dynamic.
They have now started to
produce a range of bases that are
blurred to give the appearance of
speed and these have been used to
good effect in a number of dioramas
by Jez Colman in our sister
magazine Model Aircraft Monthly.
Last month we previewed
the new Zvezda IL-86 Candid
which supplied an aircraft with
all the flying surfaces open
and drooped. `Normally an
aircraft would only appear like
this during the approach and
immediately after landing.
`And with perfect timing,
Costal Kits have supplied us
with a section of 1/144 scale
runway with the blurred effect

that will make this kit really
stand out from the crowd.

RUNWAY GROUND BLUR

CONCLUSION
If you visit http://www.costalkits.co.uk you
can see the full range of bases many
of which may well inspire you to
build a model. And Coastal Kits also
do a range of bases for maritime and
armour modellers, some of which
may also be of interest to you.
Alternatively, if you are attending
Scale ModelWorld at Telford Costal
Kits will have their stand at the show.
Our thanks to Coastal Kits for
Supplying the review sample.

Steel Beach

A

nother sample that
was passed to me
at the US Nationals
(but mislaid until now)
sorts out one of my pet
hates. The F/A18 has quite
a complicated jet intake,
and it is quite hard to get
a seamless appearance
to the trunking. This set
from Steel Beach supplies resin
Foreign Object Damage (FOD)
covers for the intake and jet
exhausts. They need minimal
cleaning up before painting
(red or in squadron colours)
and attaching to the model. Far
easier than trying to clean up
the seam lines in the trunking!

1/48 SCALE
SBA48159 MCDONNELL DOUGLAS F/A-
18A-D FOD PLUGS (FOR KINETIC KIT)

CONCLUSION
A simple set that makes it easy
for your Kinetic Hornet look just
like the real thing does most of
the time - when it’s on the ground.
All you need to add is some
“Remove Before Flight” flags.
This set and the rest of
the Steel Beach range can be
ordered online from Sprue
Brothers at http://spruebrothers.
com. There is no UK stockist.
