T

his month we have a

number of new sheets

from Decales Global,

most of which cover the current

scheme carried by the aircraft

of Japanese Air Lines (JAL). For

European readers, we also have

a scheme that will be familiar to

many: Ryanair, one of the largest

budget carriers in Europe.

Each sheet is well printed, but

there is one thing to be aware of –

each sheet has continuous carrier

film so you will need to trim closely

to the image before application.

As always, an interesting

selection of schemes from

the early Ryanair scheme

as I remember these

Linden Hill Decals

L

inden Hill return

to a familiar

subject, covering

the Su-27s that guard

Russia’s northern

border. A small bonus

on the sheet covers

an aircraft used

over Crimea in 2015,

during the Russian

annexation of this area

from the Ukraine.

And if you really

want your Flanker to be accurate,

you will need the second sheet,

which supplies all the stencils for

both single- and two-seat aircraft,

using the actual VVS technical

manuals. As well as the stencils,

you also get a number of different

styles of Russian stars, including

a pair in low-visibility grey.

Yellow Wing Decals

W

hen Kittyhawk

released their Vought

Kingfisher, I knew it

would not be long before Yellow

Wings would rise to the challenge.

And so they have, with three

sheets that not only cover the

colourful Yellow Wings period,

but also the period between 1940

and 1942, when camouflage

schemes changed rapidly as

America prepared itself for war.

CONCLUSION

Only Yellow Wings will cover

aircraft like this in 1/32 scale, and

I am very grateful for that. In fact,

after seeing these sheets, I just

had to add a second Kittyhawk

Kingfisher to my steadily

increasing retirement pile!
